"I hope what people see is that you can still make something beautiful and powerful out of a really bad situation. You can still find some good in it. I will never let cancer have the last word." ~ Gabe Grunewald

And neither can we, cancer CANNOT have the last word! Let's work together to make something beautiful and powerful so please consider joining the Brave Like Gabe Team by making a donation to this page!

On June 11, 2019, Gabriele Grunewald passed away from complications caused from Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, which is a rare cancer. ACC , like other rare cancers are often forgotten about resulting in a lack of research, funding and treatment options.

However, Gabe never let cancer stop her from going after her dream and working toward a better future for cancer patients.  She was first diagnosed in 2009 but her cancer unfortunately reoccurred three different time in the next ten years. But still Gabe continued to trained and run at a professional level.  She placed fourth in the US  Olympics Trials in 2012, won a national title and holds one of the fastest US time for 1500m (4:01.48). In addition to this Gabe started a foundation, Brave Like Gabe, with a two fold mission of raising money for rare cancer research and promoting hope through being physically active.

All the money raised here will go to the foundation which will in turn give me the opportunity to run the TSC NYC Marathon in 2021. This is amazing opportunity but the race and medal is NOT the mission or my why. The true mission is to raise as much money as possible for Brave Like Gabe, to spread the Running On Hope message and to keep Gabe's legacy alive.

I will always be committed to the Brave Like Gabe Foundation and please consider joining me by donating to this GiveSignUp page!
