Brave Like Gabe Foundation

I'm honored to be invited to run the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon for Team Brave Like Gabe! I am working towards a goal of $3000 between now and November, if you would like to support Brave Like Gabe and rare cancer research I would gratefully accept your support! 

Gabriele Grunewald (Gabe) passed away in June 2019, and as a professional runner and cancer advocate, she founded Brave Like Gabe Foundation to inspire people to share stories of being brave through their own struggles while also helping to find better and more effective treatments for rare cancers. Her legacy continues in all those sharing #mybravestory and choosing to keep #runningonhope

I first saw Gabe while watching her race the 1500m in 100 degree heat during the 2017 USA track and field championships. She finished 28th, well behind the leaders, but most notable about her was her spirit. Gabe came to this race with a huge scar across her abdomen from a past surgery and in between chemotherapy treatments for her latest relapse. She knew she would not be at her best, but she went out there anyway to show the strength and determination her love for running brought her. I was so moved by her story and her positive outlook. After she founded Brave Like Gabe in 2018, I was able to participate in her races virtually to raise money for rare cancer research and continue Gabe’s legacy of never giving up. I am honored to continue racing for Gabe, one of the greatest examples of resilience and joy, and to continue supporting her work of finding better treatments for future cancer patients.
