For many years of my childhood life, I never really knew anyone else with epilepsy, which made me feel very alone and hopeless at times. There was no one out there that I felt could truly understand what I was really going through.  I had very little self-confidence and thought that I was just going to be having seizures my whole life and that was that.  When I found out about Jason Fleishman camp, that all changed.  I was truly clueless before coming to camp that there were so many kids out there that had it so much harder than I ever did and that changed my mindset on life forever.  As a camper, I gained significant confidence in myself and came to realize what I was truly capable of as well as come to learn that I have a true passion for helping improve the lives of others.  I knew that once I got too old to be a camper that I just had to be a camp counselor.  Being a counselor for the past 8 years has been huge for me.  It has helped me even further figure out who I am as a human being and what I have to give to the world.

Due to COVID-19, Jason Fleishman camp is not happening this year, nor is Rock n' Rally, the newer camp held by EFCO each summer.  Even though these camps are not physically happening this year, I still want to feel like I'm contributing to the camps and to all of the campers that were planning on attending the camps this year in some way.  For that reason, I am doing a fundraiser to support the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado, which organizes these amazing camps each year.

To support the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado, I’ve decided to ride my bike up to the top of Mt. Evans starting from Echo Lake Park just outside of Evergreen. The road up Mt. Evans is the highest elevation road in North America (14,265 ft elevation). The ride will be roughly 14.3 miles and consist of over 3,600 ft in elevation gain.

All proceeds will go directly to the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado.

Your gift, of any size, towards my fundraiser will get me closer to my goal. I hope you’ll join me today.

Sincerely,

-James Anderson
