First Flight Alliance / Operation Active Kids

I am excited to join First Flight Alliance and Operation Active Kids (OAK) for the New York Marathon 2023!!

I know first-hand how easy it is to lose the gift of movement, so I want to support and inspire others by helping OAK give young people a chance to find their way to move.

About 3 years ago I was hit from behind by a van while cycling.  In an instant I went from riding on a serene sunny morning to being in the ditch and struggling to keep conscious.  The driver was not found.  (The only way we know a van struck me is because of debris that my back and bike broke away from the headlight casing.)

Thankfully I’ve recovered nearly fully, a result so much better than many others who have experienced a hit and run.

The experience left me with immense gratitude for the gift of movement, a gift I had taken for granted.  Every day is a gift and so I intend to use some of my days encouraging others to use their gift of movement.

That’s why I have committed to running the NYC marathon in support of Operation Active Kids (OAK).  OAK connects kids to their dream movement activity, whether summer soccer camp or dance lessons.   Please support their efforts in building a better future for kids!!
