Hello Friends and Family,
This September, Joe Brennan, Jeff Eardley and George Sharpe (Team Sharpe4Parkinsons) will be running the Berlin Marathon on Sunday, September 24, 2023 as part of the Van Andel Institute's Team Hope. This is my 4th Chicago Marathon running for VAI and my 3rd running with Joe and 1st running with Jeff.
Joe and I have been friends for over 35 years. We attended grade school together at St. Paul the Apostle in Grand Rapids, Catholic Central High School and even enjoyed a few years together at University of Dayton. Jeff and I have known each other since our high school years and have had our kids together in school at Saint Thomas the Apostle. The 3 of us are joining together to raise awareness, funds and hope to fight Parkinson's.
We are running to raise awareness for VAI's cutting-edge biomedical research and science education programs. We are also running for something very important to both of us- we are running to raise money to further that research specifically towards Parkinson's Disease.
My father, George, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 14 years ago on 9/4/09. In honor of my Dad, and his journey with Parkinson's, we am setting out to raise $30,000 to support the ground breaking research performed at Van Andel Institute. The beauty of this fundraiser is that 100% of every dollar donated to VAI goes directly to cancer and Parkinson’s disease research. Yes 100% to research!!
