Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is the national philanthropy of Kappa Alpha Theta and each year we work with our local program, Henrico CASA, to support their work on behalf of children who have been abused and neglected. Henrico CASA supports and promotes Court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused or neglected child can be safe, have a permanent home, and have the opportunity to thrive. We raise money to help impact the lives of vulnerable children in the Richmond area by providing funds for essential training, educational materials, and advocacy work that benefits the largest CASA program in Virginia.
Like CASA, Theta believes that every abused or neglected child should have a qualified, compassionate adult to fight for and protect that child’s right to have a safe home, establish permanence, and be provided opportunities to thrive. The strength of Theta sisterhood and our collective commitment to CASA will continue to change lives!
Court Appointed Special Advocates, aka CASAs, are safe, stable adults who become a consistent presence in a child’s life and ensure the child’s voice is heart in Court and in the child welfare system. Last year, 329 children were served by 119 volunteers that Henrico CASA trained and supervised.
