Join the Move for a Cure: CACNA1A 5K Run, Walk, and Roll We are reaching out to our community with a hopeful heart and a call to action. We are laced-up and ready for the CACNA1A 5K Run, Walk, and Roll, and we need you by our side. For our family, this cause is deeply personal. Our nine-year-old son faces the daily challenges of Ataxia, Nystagmus, and cerebellar atrophy. Every day, we watch his resilience as he navigates a world that isn't always built for his pace. He is the reason we fight, but he is far from alone. Why Your Support Matters CACNA1A-related disorders are rare neurological conditions that can be life-altering. They manifest in many ways, including: Ataxia: Affecting balance, coordination, and speech. Hemiplegic Migraines: Severe episodes that can cause temporary stroke-like paralysis. Seizures: Often difficult to control with standard medications. Cerebellar Atrophy: The progressive shrinking of the part of the brain that controls movement. Every Step Funds a Breakthrough 100% of the proceeds from this event go directly toward CACNA1A research. Currently, there is no cure, but there is incredible potential for gene therapies and specialized treatments. By joining us, you aren't just completing a 5K; you are funding the scientists and doctors working to give our son—and so many others—the chance to live a healthier, happier, and more independent life. "Research is the bridge between a difficult diagnosis and a brighter future. We can’t build that bridge without you."
