Colorectal cancer is cancer of the colon and rectum and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. It is equally common in men and women and can be detected through regular colon screenings. With recommended screening, this cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable.

Rumpshaker, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a mission to promote awareness about colorectal cancer, raise funds to fight and treat it, and provide hope for colorectal cancer survivors and those affected by the disease. Our message is simple: TAKE A DAY TO SAVE YOUR LIFE! Regular colon screenings can detect precancerous polyps which can reduce your risk of developing colon cancer. Sadly, many individuals have misconceptions about this routine procedure. Our goal is to educate individuals about the importance of scheduling regular screenings.

Our race, the Rumpshaker 5K, helps bring attention to colorectal cancer while providing an extraordinary and supportive event for those affected by this disease and our community as a whole. This annual event is the largest fundraiser for Rumpshaker, Inc. and has raised almost a million dollars since 2009. We have donated nearly a quarter of a million dollars to local Birmingham hospital GI labs. The funds we have donated were used in their endoscopy labs for the purchase of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment that is beneficial in the treatment of colon and rectal cancer.

In 2014, we established the Lisa Martz Hope Fund. Through this fund, we are able to touch the lives of those in our community who have been impacted by this disease. From providing a support network for patients and their families to providing scholarship opportunities for family members of those affected by this disease, Rumpshaker Inc., is committed to making a difference in our community.
