It's such an honor to be running on Team Long Run - to raise funds for Let me Run organization. Let Me Run is a national non-profit wellness program that works locally through running groups to inspire boys to be themselves, be active, and belong. As a mother of three young boys - ages 13, 11, and 7 - I can't express how appreciative I am of programs like this that support boys in the development of their emotional and social health, in addition to their physical health - through running!
Running has bestowed many blessings and gifts in my own life and running for this cause to support boys through a life-long sport of running, is near and dear to my heart. Which brings me to my story. It has been a dream to run the NYC marathon since I got back into running about 5 years ago. Running became a mental health life-saver for me during the pandemic and it stuck. I love it, and feel privileged to have the ability to run. I run for my family, for those less fortunate, and for life and joy.
I also love to run after a goal - however challenging it may be - and completing the Abbott World Majors marathons has become a fun obsession. NYC marathon is next, with London to follow in April of 2025 (more fundraising to come with that for the United Nations Refugee Commission, stay tuned :-). However, this NYC trip is more than just a marathon, it also has deep meaning for me. My dad plans to accompany me on this trip to NYC and we plan to visit where he grew up in Bloomfield, NJ and his old stomping grounds around NYC and NJ, and hopefully some family there as well. I'm so grateful to be able to have him there as a support person for me when I run, as he and my mom have been such amazing supporters and inspiration for me throughout my life. And I'm looking forward to be able to get to know some of my roots and family history with him and on this trip.
So, THANK YOU! Thank you for helping me reach my running goals and dreams, and making this experience possible. Thank you for supporting the amazing organization - Let Me Run, as I run as a part of their charity team - Team Long Run. And thank you for being just awesome. Now run along and go be awesome. :-)
