This will be the third year that I'm fundraising for the Race to Cure Sarcoma event in Milwaukee at Whitnall Park. My family and I have had a lot of fun and success over the last two events and want to keep the annual tradition going. This year though, I will not be able to walk the event because I broke my hip a week ago. I took a horrific fall after tripping on a rug and ended up with a femoral fracture below my hip socket. Not fun. I had emergency surgery the next day and am looking at a 2-3 month recovery. The surgeon nailed in a steel rod the length of my femur along with a plate and screws. Cancer treatments over the last few years, specifically pelvic radiation, have wreaked havoc on my bone strength and caused me to develop osteoporosis. This setback stung a lot...I was just beginning to feel strong and energized again since battling mouth cancer last fall & winter. I know I'll get through this though. I am so lucky to have the most supportive family and friends who rally alongside me every time I have a medical issue. 

I still want to fundraise for the SFA this year and try my best to reach my goal of $2,500. Please consider making a donation or joining my team to walk or run on July 12th. Even though I can't walk or run, I can still be at Whitnall Park to cheer everyone on!
