Story

August 26th 2019 was the day that changed my life. This marks a year since my diagnosis of interstitial cystitis. About 3 years ago, I started noticing myself getting really sick and my lower abdomen/bladder  was abnormally sore. At first, it was almost like an annoyance and didn’t think much of it. But then, I knew something was wrong. I want to share a few lessons I’ve learned during all of this.

1. It takes a village to get through treatments. You simply can not do it alone. I am eternally grateful that I didn’t have to face this by myself. The kindness I have experienced from friends, family and strangers will never be forgotten and will stay with me my whole life. I couldn’t do this without each and every one of you. You know who you are. The learning from this is that an act of kindness has a profound effect on the person long after the act has been preformed. I hope someday I can repay that kindness in some form to someone else, when they need it.

2. Being present-  Block our the negative and live your best life. If it’s not today’s worry, don’t worry about it at all.

3. Never take your health for granted. You are lucky.

I wish people knew that living with this condition is a continuous battle, having to live this way isn’t right or fair. Living with uncertainty everyday, not knowing how we are going to feel when we wake up. No one believes this is real. Living with constant pain. Living with limitations and missing out on life. It’s overwhelming but I find a way to live my best life.

I don’t discuss my health issues for pity, sympathy, or attention. I wish people knew I talked about it because it’s a huge part of my life, whether I want it to be or not. I discus it to help others who are dealing with the same hurdles. To inform. To educate. To be matter-of-fact. To explain. Not to be pitied, babied, or fawned over. Certainly not to be looked down upon or judged.  Life is so endlessly beautiful!  💙 Kylie
