For a quarter of a century, Henrico Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program has helped more than 3000 abused and neglected children who found themselves at the mercy of the child welfare system when their parents didn’t keep them safe. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety, a judge appoints a well-trained and passionate CASA volunteer to investigate the child and their family’s situations and offer objective, informed recommendations about what outcomes are in his/her best interest. These volunteers protect the child’s right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in a loving family where they can thrive.
