My grandpa, Thomas Robertson was a member of the May 2024 Honor Flight and served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

I'm running for not only for my grandpa, but to try and raise funds for Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to try and repay the generosity they have given not only to me, but my entire family.

On May 18th, 2024, my grandpa left Milwaukee to enjoy an event-filled day in DC with fellow veterans.

Upon arrival in DC, he was greeted by all the wonderful volunteers and attendees at Dulles Airport for the welcome for the veterans. Sadly, short after the quick drive to DC to the MLK memorial, he started to ha e breathing complications. Shortly after, he was taken to the local hospital, and unfortunately, later passed away that afternoon.

A day that was supposed to be completed with a wonderful homecoming instead ended with heartbreak and mourning my late grandfather.

The reason i also am running for this great organization is thanks to the closure they helped give my family. He was returned to Milwaukee with full honors upon arrival on the tarmac. Volunteers and board members joined us there on the tarmac when he arrived and it was so much more than we expected.

When you donate to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Inc., your money goes to flying veterans like my grandpa. The organization is entirely volunteer supported with no paid employees allowing us to direct nearly 100% of donations to the program.
