I've joined LOWVELO26 because I am passionate about making a difference in my community and helping find a cure for cancer.

For most of my childhood, my mom bravely battled breast cancer. I spent countless hours by her side attending appointments, chemotherapy treatments, scans, and follow-up visits. Through those experiences, I was introduced to healthcare at a very young age, and it sparked a passion that has stayed with me ever since.

What stood out most to me was that every person involved in my mother's care shared a common purpose: serving and healing others. Whether it was the environmental services staff who kept her rooms clean and comfortable, the physicians guiding her treatment, the radiology technicians performing her scans, the therapists supporting her recovery, or even the welcoming faces in the gift shop, each person played an important role in her journey. They came from different backgrounds, genders, races, ethnicities, and walks of life, but they were united by something bigger than themselves—a commitment to compassion, service, and hope.

My mother received exceptional care throughout her cancer journey, and witnessing that firsthand inspired my decision to pursue a career in healthcare. From a young age, I learned that healthcare is more than a profession—it's a calling. No matter the role, everyone contributes to caring for patients and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

I know that MUSC Hollings Cancer Center provides that same level of extraordinary care, support, and groundbreaking research for countless patients and families facing similar challenges today. That's why it is such an honor to serve as the Team Captain for the CHP Alumni Team for LOWVELO. Even more meaningful is the opportunity to help raise funds for a cause that is deeply personal to me and continues to make a difference in the lives of families navigating cancer journeys like my own.
