I’m proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause isn’t just the region’s largest cancer fundraiser—it’s a community, a celebration, a family, and a movement powered by the belief that WE ARE THE ANSWER TO CANCER.
My ride is deeply personal. This year marks 10 years since I was diagnosed with triple‑negative breast cancer, an aggressive form of the disease. I’m grateful to say I’ve lived a lot of life since then, including a second breast cancer diagnosis 5 years ago. I’ve also learned an enormous amount about cancer—truly, more than I ever imagined—and I now understand even more clearly how the innovative research funded by Pedal the Cause directly shapes the future of cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship.
I bring a unique perspective to this mission. I’m not only a Siteman Cancer Center patient — I’ve also spent 17 years as a Research Coordinator at Washington University School of Medicine, working in cancer prevention and control. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the very researchers whose projects are supported by Pedal the Cause. The breadth of this work is extraordinary: expanding equity in genetic testing, addressing health disparities in cancers like mine, studying how guided physical activity can ease the burden of chemotherapy, advancing basic science discoveries, and supporting clinical trials that change lives.
I work on the “people side” of cancer research, and I’ve seen exactly how Pedal the Cause funding becomes real progress for real people. It doesn’t sit on a spreadsheet — it becomes pilot studies that spark new ideas, data that answers critical questions, and clinical trials that give patients options they didn’t have before. I’ve watched these projects grow from early concepts into discoveries that genuinely change what’s possible for patients like me. This research is happening because donors choose to believe in Pedal the Cause.
This is how I’m marking my 10 year cancerversary— I’m asking you to support my ride and fuel this lifesaving work. When you donate, you can give with complete confidence—100% of your contribution goes directly to cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Thank you for helping move us closer to a world without cancer.
