The Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund is a permanent charitable endowment managed by the Outer Banks Community Foundation.  It was established in 2013 to assure that community health projects benefiting the Outer Banks will forever be funded. Since the endowment’s creation, the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund has helped Outer Banks non-profits including the Hatteras Island Community Emergency Response Team, Interfaith Community Outreach, Community Care Clinic of Dare, OBX GO FAR, among others.

With its focus on local philanthropy, the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot was established to encourage running and walking to improve individual health and its proceeds helped the broader community!  Over the course of 25 years, individuals, families, and businesses have championed long-lasting good for the Outer Banks community in countless ways.

Through its discretionary grants, the Outer Banks Community Foundation supports the non-profit sector to evolve...to take on new challenges, and to fund opportunities as they arise. Permanent charitable endowments like the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund are a resource for future generations to meet the challenges of their times.
