Pedal the Cause

This will be my 15th Pedal the Cause participating as a volunteer or rider. The organization is impressive in that every dollar raised stays right here in St. Louis!  Those dollars have helped fund world renowned research done right here in STL at Siteman Cancer Center. Every year I've committed to this cause on a personal level in that I've had a friend, colleague or family member fighting cancer.

 In February 2021, my husband Ethan, was diagnosed with a rare head and neck cancer known as Salivary Duct Carcinoma. He immediately began chemotherapy treatment at Siteman Cancer Center. In August of '21 we learned that the cancer had found its way around the chemo. Dr Oppelt changed gears to a different chemotherapy drug. Since then Ethan has received Herceptin infusions every 3 weeks....and he has had an incredible response! To date he has had numerous scans that reflect no growth or spread of the cancer. I am grateful Ethan has access to the best doctors and world class research right here in our hometown!

I refuse to watch my family and friends endure this disease and so, I will KEEP PEDALING my bike in an effort to make a difference in the movement towards a world without cancer. It is a tiny thing I can do that pales in comparison to those who are fighting the fight.
