Why I fundraise?
Ovarian Cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in the United States.
My mom, Luckie, had been feeling sick for 6 months and doctors could not find what was wrong with her. By the time she felt a tumor in her abdomen, she was already Stage 4. There is still no screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer. Early detection can make all the difference, and save lives. The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego is working towards advancing cancer research and education of the medical community for early diagnosis, improving the quality of care for patients, and expanding their community outreach program to include all gynecologic cancer awareness to civic groups, organizations and the general public throughout the San Diego County.
We're honoring my mom by participating in the Annual Teal Steps Walk to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego. We hope you'll join us for the walk or make a donation. A contribution of any amount will help local efforts. We hope to see you September 7th!
Blessings, Elizabeth "Lisa" Maldonado Robinson
