Story

This wonderful event allows me to combine two passions, my love of bike riding and how much I hate cancer! Pedal the Cause is a perfect opportunity for you to do something to create a world without cancer. I am living proof that progress is being made in the fight to cure cancer. Hard to believe that it’s now been 15 years since I was first seen at Siteman Cancer Center at Washington University in St. Louis and received the surprising news that I had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, SLL/CLL. After 10 years the clinical trial I was in monitoring the effectiveness of an oral immune therapy medication has now ended. I consider myself so fortunate that this drug worked to keep my symptoms in check and side effects minimal-I am lucky that Imbruvica is covered by my insurance but it is super expensive. My hope is that more people with lymphoma/leukemia will be able to take this medicine available too. My husband Reid and I are riding in PTC for the 13th year and our 11th year riding on Team Leukemia. Since its inception, this amazing event has raised over $51 million with 100% is given directly to fund cancer research.
