Why I Cross

As an employee of LifeFlight and a very grateful LifeFlight patient, I am thrilled to be participating in the Cross for LifeFlight again this year! LifeFlight saved my life after my family and I were in a plane crash in Kezar Lake in 2007. I was just five years old at the time. While I have no memory of this day, I do know that LifeFlight's rapid response and critical care certainly helped to save my life. I am grateful every day that I now get to be a part of the organization that gave me a second chance at life.

I am excited to be a part of the Grateful Patient Team and to participate with others who have benefited from LifeFlight's live-saving care. Last year, this team raised over $60,000 together, and I know this year we can surpass that goal!

Between August 1 and August 31, I will be doing my own Crossing to support LifeFlight of Maine, a challenge that will symbolize the difficulties of providing lifesaving emergency medical care to Maine's many island and rural communities.

LifeFlight of Maine is a nonprofit organization and the state’s only emergency medical helicopter service. With helicopters, an airplane and ground ambulances, LifeFlight brings ICU-level care directly to the patient. As Maine’s only air ambulance service, LifeFlight has served more than 42,000 patients, one life at a time, from every community and hospital in the state.

Thanks so much for supporting my efforts, and mostly, for supporting this critically important service.
