It's a celebration and a movement fueled by the courage to development treatments and cures for cancer. Everyone knows someone that's been impacted by cancer. It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. I ride for countless family and friends that have battled cancer, including my mother - my hero - who passed away in March 2023, and family friend/fellow Spire employee, Geoff Brooks, who passed away in January 2024, both due to complications from cancer.
This has been the hardest time of my life. It's difficult for me to create this fundraiser because I deeply wish that it was still in my mom's honor instead of her memory, but I hold so much hope for the development of treatments and cures for cancer. I know my mom would be so proud of me for giving it my all again this year. She'll be noticeably absent from my cheering squad, but I know she'll be with me the entire ride.
