Pedal the Cause

JAMES ARTHUR GILES JR. Passed away peacefully October 1, 2025, at the age of 82. 

Jim was the beloved husband of Carolyn J. Giles (2017) and was the loving and dedicated father of 3 sons: James A. Giles III (Michelle), Jason A. Giles, (Billie Jo), John A. Giles (Gina). He was the proud grandfather of Parker, Ava, Luc, and Addison and dear brother of Judy Holloran-Wolff and uncle to her children.  Jim was a cherished friend to many.  

Jim dedicated his entire career to the grocery profession at both corporate and retail levels: serving with distinction at National Supermarkets and Trader Joe’s.  A lifelong, competitive athlete, he excelled at swimming & diving; first at the youth level (Shaw Park Swim Team) and then high school (Mercy HS). He was an avid golfer and played recreational softball and racquetball.  He coached CYC baseball and soccer teams for his boys at St. Michael’s and was an enthusiastic sporting fan of St. Louis teams.  His other hobbies included fishing of all kinds and taking photographs at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, where he was a longstanding member.

In lieu of flowers, the Giles family thanks you for considering donating to the Pedal the Cause via this memorial page.  Both of our parents fought cancers.  Jim, Multiply Myeloma and his wife Carol, Breast Cancer.  Pedal the Cause supports and funds Cancer Research right here in St. Louis.  Jim, Carol, and countless others have benefitted directly from the cancer research and care that Siteman Center offered them during their battles.
