As an organization, the Motor City Veterans Hockey Association is proud to announce that we will be lacing up our skates for the LivSports 24 Hour Adult Hockey Marathon, benefitting LivFree - a pediatric cancer foundation that provides Moments of Joy to kids and families to give them a break from struggle. Whether it is going to a game, a show, a concert, or even just a night out together - LivFree is there for the whole family.
What is the Motor City Veterans Hockey Association?
We are composed of more than 80% military veterans, with more than half of the members being veterans with disabilities. The other 20% are a combination of active duty military members (5%), family members (10%), and supporting members (5%).
Motor City Veterans Hockey Association offers individuals with military affiliation a structured environment to play the game of ice hockey, providing recreational therapy and fellowship for Veterans and their families.
Our program was created to help with the education, awareness and advocacy for our veterans dealing with both physical trauma rehabilitation, as well as recovery from “Invisible Wounds,” including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
This focus on physical and mental wellbeing is one of many ways this program sets itself apart from other recreational athletic programs.
So, we are proud to be participating in this feat of endurance to use our passion as a platform for good. A donation of any amount will help us reach our initial goal as we raise funds collectively in support of our members who are participating in the LivSports 24 Hour Hockey Marathon!
