Why I Ride

I am riding in memory of my mom. She loved Pedal the Cause because of what it stood for. Being the selfless woman she was, she did not want to see anyone or any family go through the hardship of what cancer brings. She was a regular attendee of Pedal events and was able to see a lot of the behind the scenes work since her daughter-in-law (Ashley) works there. She cared for so many and did whatever she could to create a world without cancer - a goal that we all share in common. During her two year bout with this terrible disease - she had or wore her PTC swag, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, beanies, bags, etc., to every doctor appointment with pride! She would always make sure all of her nurses, doctors or anyone that crossed her path at Siteman knew her involvement with the organization, and that her daughter-in-law was a member of the PTC team. It became a running joke over the last few months.

My mom was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. She had a spunk and take NO SHIT attitude you could not deny. Her presence was felt as soon as she entered the room - not in an intimidating way, but a loving way. Her love for her husband, kids and grandkids was beyond compare - she would go to the ends of the Earth and back a million times over for her family. She was truly our fearless leader until the very end.

Our hope is that no other family has to experience the pain and loss we have endured. Thank you for your donation in memory of Barb, and to one day, creating a world without cancer.

I am riding in honor of my Grandma, Derek Conine(brother-in-law), Don Conine(father-in-law),  Jennifer Ball, Diane Swanson, Maggie Clubb, Marcy Clubb, Sara Nicely, Sasha Kemp, Rick Strohmeyer, Master Craftsman Rick Rozycki and anyone else that has had to battle cancer!

Pedal the Cause has been a huge eye opener for me since I joined a few years back. My beautiful wife, Ashley, has dedicated the last 10 years of her life to finding a cure for cancer - when we started dating I knew I had to jump on board. Now I'm lucky enough to call her my better half.

Lastly, if you have a moment please check out my brother-in-law and father-in-law in their featured fighter video.
