I'm fundraising for Philadelphia Outward Bound School because I believe and can personally attest to Mother Nature's educational power! For me, more things are "caught" rather than "taught" and that definitely is the way outdoor education has played a foundational role in my life since I was a 7 y.o. youngin' in Boy Scouts. I learned how to prepare myself for the uncertainties nature (and life) brings and how to go with the flow. I found that it's IMPOSSIBLE to calm the cannonball-dive ripples in a lake by patting them down; it just creates more ripples! I learned that in some scenarios being still is the best way to solve a challenge.
To educate means to educe or bring out knowledge and wisdom from someone - and that's just what POBS does for thousands of young folk in Philly and the region. Through challenge and discovery (and generosity from folks like you!), they bring out those lessons that only Mother Nature holds the power to unlock.
