Welcome to My Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk. San Diego Team Fundraising Page!
Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk San Diego is a 15-mile Bike Ride or 5K Run/Walk that is very important to our family. We are raising money to help The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County so they can provide wraparound support services and programs at no cost to individuals and families affected by epilepsy as ours was.
Our son, Riley, was diagnosed at age 14 with juvenile onset epilepsy. He led a life like any other teenager with the support of his friends and family. Of course, there were limitations like not being able to drive, sleep requirements, educating his friends, their families, teachers, and coaches about the to do's and not to do's if/when he would have a seizure. Organizations like The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego provide resources to epileptics and their families making this process easier and more effective.
Riley founded Team Rhizzle Shizzle in 2015 and we've kept it going in his memory. Riley's other legacy is that he was an organ donor. He told me after a bad week of seizures that, "If anything ever happens to me donate whatever you can so some mother can have more time with her kid." His donation of organs and tissues changed the lives of 100 families. We honor his gifts by walking, jogging and riding each year. Doing what he can no longer do - for others.
Join the movement that brings our community together to educate, spread awareness and make a difference for the people we love who live with epilepsy. Please help me support this cause - JOIN OUR TEAM.
