A Personal Message from Teegan & Beach Hero:

Beach Hero is a truly special horse, and I can’t imagine a better partner to take to the Makeover. The first day I met Hero, I went into his stall, and he put his head right in my arms. From that moment I knew it was meant to be! On top of being incredibly sweet, Hero has an incredible brain, especially for a young horse. Every time I expect an issue, he says “Ok, no problem!” and on we go. Hero was bred by Spendthrift Farms in Kentucky, one of the leading breeders in the industry. He then traveled to California to begin race training. Fortunately for me, He was very slow and only ran in one race before his connections decided to retire him. As one of the youngest horses on this year’s SCRAF team, we are currently enjoying lots of trail rides while we slowly build up his strength and decide which Makeover discipline, he will be best suited to. My goal for the 2026 Makeover is to show off Hero’s skills, abilities and personality to the best of my ability.

A little about me (Teegan), I am a young professional in the horse world. Though I have tried to divert to another career a few times now, I keep getting drawn back to the horses! It has been a lifelong passion to improve my horsemanship and be able to better understand and develop horses of all types. Despite coming from a humble background, I have never let finances get in the way of my passion. Even in childhood, I grew up working off my horse’s board by mucking stalls! It has been a long-time dream of mine to be able to participate in the Makeover, but I never thought I would be able to actually accomplish it due to the long distances and related costs. While the trip to Kentucky is expensive, I am working hard, getting creative, and making sacrifices to be able to get it to work. Any funds raised would help ease some of the stress of this large financial strain and allow me to focus more clearly on training and preparing my horse. I strongly believe that a quality horse like Hero deserves to be shown off at the Thoroughbred Makeover!
