Pedal the Cause

Dear Family and Friends,

Cancer has changed my life forever.

I’ve lost my cousin Neese, my dad Ted Sr., and my Uncle Jess to this disease. And today, I continue to ride for friends and family members who are still fighting with courage and strength every single day.

That is why Pedal the Cause means so much to me. Serving on the Board of Directors has given me an even deeper purpose: to help raise awareness and funds for innovative cancer research at Washington University’s Siteman Cancer Center. What makes this cause so special is that every dollar donated goes directly to research—fueling hope and helping brilliant medical teams work toward better treatments and, one day, a cure.

This year, I’m riding 30 miles in honor of those we’ve lost and those still in the fight.

I’m incredibly grateful that my cousin Nicole is flying in from Detroit for the fourth straight year to volunteer, and that my friend and former work partner Kelli Littlejohn is coming from St. Joseph, Missouri, with her parents, Mike and Cindy, to volunteer as well. Their support reminds me that this cause brings people together in a powerful and personal way.

I’m also riding for my friends Al Caizzo, Rick Hicks and Jo Suchy, who were diagnosed within the last 12 months. And to Jeff Webb who has continued to push through his treatment with determination. This event has become more than a ride—it is a way to honor the people we love, carry their memory with us, and stand beside those who still need hope.

I am committed to this cause for the long haul, and I hope with all my heart to see a cure for cancer in my lifetime.
