Get the New Year off to a fun and healthy start! Walk, run, swim, bike - whatever exercise you like, wherever you like to do it. Complete 26.2 miles worth of exercise in 28 days and at the same time learn more about Charleston's most beautiful parks.
While this route would be awesome to walk, run or bike, it is NOT a real route! Think "wrong way on a one way street" and "there's no sidewalk here" kind of issues. This route was cobbled together to "connect" the parks that are cultivated and maintained by Charleston Parks Conservancy in such a way as to mimic the distance of a marathon race.
Beginning on February 1st, and continuing through February 28th, you are encouraged to sign back in to your event registration page to record your walks, runs and bike rides. Each time you record an activity, you will see your progress along the virtual route. There are Milestones along the way that when you reach them will generate an email to you with information on the park that you have reached. There is no limit to the number of activities you can record during February, and no limit to the miles that can be recorded. In fact, there is a cool prize for the participant who logs the most miles during the event!
CANNON PARK: 1 lap around the park = 0.2 miles
COLONIAL LAKE: 1 lap around the park = 0.5 miles
HAMPTON PARK: 1 lap around the park = 1.5 miles
WATERFRONT PARK: 1 lap around the park = 1 mile
WEST ASHLEY GREENWAY: 8 miles from end to end
WEST ASHLEY BIKEWAY : 2.5 miles from end to end
Are you in to fishing more than running? Is yoga more your thing? You can still rack up miles in our virtual event doing the things you love. Use our Conversion Chart to convert your favorite form of recreation and exercise into miles run.
We have some cool merchandise picked out for those registrants who help us raise much needed funds to further the work of Charleston Parks Conservancy. And we make the process easy, with a simple customizable fundraiser page made just for you.
Since 2007, Charleston Parks Conservancy has been working to create and nurture stunning and productive botanical and edible gardens in parks owed by the City of Charleston. Information about our mission and the parks this virtual route touches may be found at www.charlestonparksconservancy.org.
