Throughout our KIDS CAN’T WAIT: 30 Day Miracle Movement for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center we will be hosting a variety of fun-filled activities and events for all ages!

Unless otherwise noted, activities are free, and registration will close at 9 p.m. the night before an event.

Through Sunday, Oct. 31: Spirit of Halloween Coupon Campaign
Audience: Families
Description:  Don't let us scare you with this ghastly exciting news! Now through #Halloween, if you purchase costumes or decorations at select Spirit Halloween stores you'll receive 10% off using this coupon or promo code and 10% will be donated back to Johns Hopkins Children's Center. Description: Be sure to pick your pumpkin in advance of National Pumpkin Day and then download our special pumpkin carving stencils for Johns Hopkins Children's Center supporters! We can't wait to see your creations!

Friday, Oct. 28:  Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Audience: Families
Description: Grab your family and friends and get outdoors in your neighborhoods for a Halloween decorations scavenger hunt that is fun for all ages! Print out your scavenger hunt list, grab your cameras or cell phones, set a timer for 45 minutes, and go! Try to find as many of the items on the list as you can and take a picture or video of each one. When your time is up, meet up with other families/team to compare your findings and enjoy some delicious treats and hot cocoa. It's a great way to enjoy family night!


Saturday, Oct. 29: A “Thriller” Remix Flash Mob
Time: 2 p.m.

Audience: Families

Location: 4606 Liberty Heights Avenue, Baltimore, MD 
Description: Join us in front of the soon to be renovated Ambassador Theater in northwest Baltimore for a fun performance (with a live DJ!) featuring dancers in zombie costumes. Halloween bags will also be distributed.

Sunday, Oct. 30: Virtual Wine Dinner with Luna Blu
Time: Food and wine pickup between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.; Virtual call at 6 p.m.
Cost: $150 for parties of 2; $95 for 1
Audience: 21 and up
Location: Pick up at 36 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401; Zoom details will be emailed to participants
Description: Eat and drink for a great cause! Pick up your prepared 4-course dinner and three 750 ml bottles of paired wines, and join us at home for a virtual wine dinner! 10% of each dinner and 100% of our cash wine raffle will be donated to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Menu:

  • 1st course – Lobster Pot Pie Tart; Pairing – Frogs Leap Chardonnay
  • 2nd course – Smoked Gouda Mac N’ Cheese with crispy bacon; Pairing – Frogs Leap Merlot

Monday, Oct. 31: Halloween Carnival at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center
Audience: Corporate Partners and Foundations
Description: Join us for an exclusive sponsorship opportunity as we host a Halloween party for our patients and families at the Children’s Center. With a sponsorship of $2,500 or more, sponsors will be invited to host a treat station at the event. Contact Cynthia Palacz for more information.  

 

Tuesday, Nov. 1: Halloween Costume Contest
Audience: Families
Description: Participate in our Halloween costume contest judged by our very own Teen and Children's Council! Post your Halloween costumes on Facebook or Instagram and tag Friends of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for the following categories: Best Overall Child, Best Overall Adult, Best Family/Group/Couple, Scariest, Funniest, and Best DIY. 


Wednesday, Nov. 2: Visit the Maryland Zoo via Penguin Cam

Audience: Families
Description: Were you unable to join us on race day and missed our penguin friends? Have no fear - you can visit our feathered friends virtually via the Maryland Zoo's Penguin Cam! Make sure to tune in to see penguin activity, including feeding times at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily.

Thursday, Nov. 3: National Sandwich Day
Audience: Families
Description: Did you know that the Children's Center has 4 corporate partners that are sandwich shops? Chick-fil-A, Jersey Mike's, Royal Farms, and Wawa all support Hopkins Children's throughout the year - on National Sandwich Day, consider supporting them and grab a sandwich at your local shop for lunch or dinner.


Friday, Nov. 4: Roast Some S’mores

Audience: Families
Description: Sometimes it is the simplest pastimes that create the best memories. Gather your family and friends around the campfire for good company and s’mores. Don’t have access to a fire? Get creative by using your kitchen stove (or even a candle) to roast marshmallows (never leave an open flame unattended). Stick with the basics or help get rid of some of that leftover Halloween Candy by making Monster S’mores!


Saturday, Nov. 5: Go for a Hike

Audience: Families
Description: Another way to explore the great outdoors and take in the stunning fall foliage? Lace up your hiking boots and embark on a vibrant trek with family and friends. Whether you prefer a challenging adventure through one of the national parks, or a family-friendly nature walk, you’ll enjoy spectacular views, fewer crowds, and milder temperatures. Sunday, Nov. 6: Baltimore Farmers Market and Bazaar 
Time: 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. 
Audience: Families
Location: Holliday and Saratoga Streets, under the Jones Falls Expressway 
Description: While strolling through Maryland’s largest produce-only market, you’ll revel at the sight of a vast quantity of foods, including seasonal fruits and veggies, locally raised poultry, fresh baked goods, and organic dairy products. Baltimore Farmers' Market also features live music, children’s entertainment, and a wide variety of one-of-a-kind crafts and collectibles.

Monday, Nov. 7: 5 Quick and Cheap Healthy Meals with the ReNEW Clinic 
Audience: Families

As your little ones string together gratitude bracelets and paint bubble wrap to look like corn on the cobs, they are also pausing to reflect on the meaning of the holiday itself - and as they grow older, that is something they'll cherish as much as you.
 
Wednesday, Nov. 9: Visit the National Aquarium Livestream
Audience: Families
Description: Did you know that our patients can visit the National Aquarium by using a "telepresence robot" called WeGo? The Aquarium has designated a few tour specialists to guide the robots from exhibit to exhibit explaining to the child what they are seeing. The patient actually moves the WeGo using a keyboard of a computer. Did you also know that the Aquarium has a livestream so your little ones can check up on their fish and shark friends anytime they want? Check it out!

Thursday, Nov. 10: Learn the Baltimore Boogie Morale Dance
Time: 7 p.m.
Audience: Families
Description: Don't miss a beat - it is a dance marathon tradition to come together and dance a unique line dance throughout our event. During these ever-changing times, we are determined to keep this tradition alive! Sunday, Oct. 16: Team Hopkins Kids Post Race Recovery with Merritt Clubs
Audience: Families

Thursday, Oct. 20: Red Brick Station Restaurant Night Supporting Trauma and Burn 
Time: 5 – 10 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 22: National Fetch Day and Global Cat Day
Audience: Families
Description: Grab your dog and nearest toy because today is National Fetch Day - a chance to get out in the yard, get some exercise, and build some memories with furry friend. More of a cat person? It is also Global Cat Day, a day for cat advocates to unite! Did you know that the number of cat videos on YouTube tops 2 million - with the average views hovering around 12,000 - that's higher than any other category of YouTube content!
