The Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice is a grassroots, statewide network of individuals and organizations that work to advance and defend the rights of immigrants in Alabama. ACIJ has become a major progressive organizing force locally and nationally. ACIJ is creating a strong grassroots base through an unparalleled organizing and leadership development campaign in immigrant communities across the state, while building alliances with other marginalized communities and non-immigrant allies.

We’ve teamed up with LA based community enrichment group TIA -Tap Into Action! to raise $40K between now and October 3rd and 4th.

Your contribution will finance these important initiatives: 

• The expansion of a Statewide Spanish Hotline. In the wake of COVID-19 we created 1-844-AYUDA-AL to connect our communities to testing locations and protective measures saving lives. We also raised funds to award one-time $400 grants to immigrant families pay their bills.

• The hotline helps people at extreme risk of homelessness and hunger and provides some relief with small grants and much needed unity.

• Rapid Response Virtual Leadership Program. ACIJ is introducing new initiatives to empower and educate our future leaders online, rather than in person, for both adults and our Youth Engagement and Civic Participation Programs!

• Abrazando Nuestras Raices. We work with the Mexican government to obtain U.S. tourist visas for parents of our members who have not seen their families for at least 10 years.

• Civic Participation. ACIJ was established in the wake of HB 56 in 2011, when immigrants were targeted at our homes, jobs, and schools. From that moment on, we have worked to nurture the civic life of our communities.

• Brown & Black Unity. In 2011, our allies in the African-American community were the first to speak out in our defense. These moments of solidarity are the first steps to making true social, economic, and political change in Alabama and across the nation.

• Youth Engagement. Some of the most compelling and effective activism comes from empowered and supporting youth. We work to give these young activists the training, tools, and resources they need to carry out change in the years to come.

Your contribution will bring us one step closer to justice for immigrant families in Alabama. Together we are building this vibrant grassroots movement!

La Coalición de Alabama por la Justicia de los Inmigrantes es una red de base estatal de individuos y organizaciones que trabaja para promover y defender los derechos de los inmigrantes en Alabama. ACIJ se ha convertido en una importante fuerza organizativa progresista a nivel local y nacional. ACIJ está creando una base sólida de líderes comunitarios a través de una campaña de desarrollo de liderazgo y organización sin precedentes en las comunidades de inmigrantes en todo el estado, mientras construye alianzas con otras comunidades marginadas y aliados no inmigrantes.

Nos hemos asociado con el grupo de enriquecimiento comunitario con sede en Los Ángeles llamado TIA -Tap Into Action! Para recaudar $40K entre ahora y el 3 y 4 de octubre.

• La expansión de una línea directa en español a nivel estatal. A raíz de COVID-19, creamos 1-844-AYUDA-AL para informar a las comunidades sobre recursos importantes. También recaudamos fondos para otorgar ayudas financieras únicas de $400 para ayudar a las familias inmigrantes con sus gastos.

• La línea directa ayuda a las personas que corren un riesgo extremo de quedarse sin hogar y de pasar hambre y brinda algún alivio con pequeñas subvenciones y el apoyo que tanto necesitan.

• Programa Virtual de Liderazgo de Respuesta Rápida. ¡ACIJ está presentando nuevas iniciativas para capacitar y educar en línea a nuestros futuros líderes, tanto para adultos como para nuestros Programas de Participación Cívica y Juvenil!

• Abrazando Nuestras Raíces. Trabajamos con el gobierno mexicano para obtener visas de turistas para los padres de nuestros miembros que no han visto a sus familias durante al menos 10 años.

• Participación cívica. ACIJ se estableció a raíz de la HB 56 en 2011, cuando los inmigrantes fuimos el objetivo de nuestros hogares, trabajos y escuelas. A partir de ese momento, hemos trabajado para fomentar la participación cívica de nuestras comunidades.

• Unidad marrón y negra. En 2011, nuestros aliados de la comunidad afroamericana fueron los primeros en salir en nuestra defensa. Estos momentos de solidaridad son los primeros pasos para lograr un verdadero cambio social, económico y político en Alabama y en todo el país.

• Compromiso de los jóvenes. Parte del activismo mas convincente y eficaz proviene de empoderar y apoyar a los jóvenes. Trabajamos para brindarles a estos jóvenes activistas la capacitación, las herramientas y los recursos que necesitan para llevar a cabo cambios en los próximos años.
