The ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund: We Champion Community

At the heart of the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot is community.  Since its creation in 1996, the annual event championed giving back and doing good. 

Over the years, the ADVICE 5K donated thousands of dollars in event proceeds to non-profits across the Outer Banks. In 2013, Advice 5¢, a bed & breakfast owned by Nancy Caviness and Donna Black established the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund -- a charitable endowment managed by the Outer Banks Community Foundation. This decision was both a tribute to the beloved community event and to assure a lasting impact on health and wellness in the community.

While the event was the cornerstone fundraiser that grew the endowment, individuals, businesses, and families generously contribute via direct donation. Year after year, Turkey Trotters proved how a "fun little footrace" could do so much good for so many! With its focus on non-profit grant making, this permanent charitable endowment will work to improve health and wellbeing for those living and working on the Outer Banks -- now, and for years and years to come.
