I am proud to join Pedal the Cause again in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer. I enjoyed the ride so much last year that I am riding even farther; I will be biking 30 miles on September 22, 2024!
This event means a little more to me this year. Right after the first of this year I noticed that I always seemed fatigued no matter the amount of sleep I was getting, and things seemed a bit out of the ordinary. After a month of ignoring the problem, and a visit to my primary care doctor, I was immediately sent to a specialist to have more tests run. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer on February 7th, 2024, and I started my first round of chemotherapy on April, 15, 2024 to treat this disease.
I ride in memory of my aunt’s late husband Jay Huston taken from us in 2022 after a courageous battle with bladder cancer that unfortunately spread.
I ride and in honor of my mother Jackie Serena a breast cancer survivor, my aunt Michelle Armstrong also a breast cancer survivor, my wife’s uncle Ryan Bassler a testicular cancer survivor, my wife’s grandmother Patty Bassler a lymphoma survivor, and for the millions of other men, women, children, and their families who have been affected by cancer.
Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
