Our Why

For the 13th straight year, we are joining the fight against cancer by participating in the 15th annual Pedal the Cause bike challenge.  Pedal the Cause has the mission to provide seed money for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through their annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.

In 2024 we Ride & Volunteer to inspire and support raising money!

We celebrate one of our original teammates, John Christian Sr, who passed on August 5th, 2016. John worked for Keeley Construciton for years and helped grow the company in the early years.  John had battled cancer on and off for over 24 years and beat prostate, colon, melanoma, and bladder cancers while living a faith-based life filled with family, friends, and fun. The Hammer was the original inspiration on why Team Keeley was formed and rode in their first PTC. Thanks, Hammer, for all of the love you shared with us and the world!

We celebrate a long-time pillar of Keeley Construction, Ed Hall, who passed on May 28th 2022.  Ed was a great leader, and a big part of our culture providing incredible E^3 service to our customer and a safety leader.  Ed worked up until the end as he fought his cancer with vigor and determination.  Thanks Ed for your mentorship, guidance and legacy of leadership you leave for us.  We ride to raise money and create a world without cancer.

We celebrate one of our past raiders teammates, Nick Porter, who passed on October 1oth, 2021.  Nick who rode his first PTC in 2017 after years of donating and then discovered in December of 2017, he had colon cancer stage 4. He would go through numerous chemo treatments, radiation treatments, and one lung surgery as he fought his spirited battle. Through all of it, his wonderful view on life was an inspiration to many families, friends, and even strangers!

“This is what it is. How do I change it or make it better?” ~ Nick Porter

We celebrate Issa Alovor who is continuing his battle against Pilocystic Astrocytoma grade I. This tumor was found on his brain stem in 2009. After many ups and downs over 6+ years, his condition is now stable and he has been symptom free for over 4 years now! Issa is now at Missouri S&T where he is continuing his love of science and math. Keep it up, Big Man!!

We celebrate Bryor Lacey who was diagnosed with Pre B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in early 2016. He is a spunky almost 7 year old boy who loves all things trucks, animals, and Cardinals baseball. After 3+ years of treatment, Bryor RANG THE BELL in April 0f 2019!!! This year Bryor will be riding in his 4th Kids Challenge and is looking forward to doing even more laps than last year.

We ride for every person that has been and will be diagnosed with cancer.

We ride for those who have lost their battle with cancer.

We ride because cancer still exists. We will continue to ride until cancer is dead and we live in A WORLD WITHOUT CANCER.

Sincerely,

Team Keeley
