Pedal the Cause

Pedal the Cause is hope, community and the region’s most impactful movement to end cancer. I am proud to join Pedal the Cause to participate and to play a part in funding groundbreaking research at our local, top-ranked institutions that is changing the way we treat and cure cancers.  I will be biking 30 miles on September 20, 2026!

This event means so much to me now.  Right after January 1, 2024 I noticed that I always seemed fatigued no matter the amount of sleep I was getting, and things seemed a bit out of the ordinary.  After a month of ignoring the problem, and a visit to my primary care doctor, I was immediately sent to a specialist to have more tests run.  I was diagnosed with testicular cancer on February 7th, 2024, I completed chemotherapy on April, 30, 2024, and I am currently in an observation period hoping that there is not a reoccurrence.

I ride in memory of my aunt’s late husband Jay Huston taken from us in 2022 after a courageous battle with bladder cancer that unfortunately spread.

I ride in memory of my aunt Dorothy Serena who lost her battle with lung cancer May 22, 2025. 

I ride and in honor of my mother Jackie Serena a breast cancer survivor, my aunt Michelle Armstrong also a breast cancer survivor, my wife’s uncle Ryan Bassler a testicular cancer survivor, my wife’s grandmother Patty Bassler a lymphoma survivor, and for the millions of other men, women, children, and their families who have been affected by cancer.

Every penny of every dollar donated funds innovative cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital, driving new treatments, clinical trials and discoveries that are improving patient outcomes.
