Three years ago, creating a housing and case management program to support recently arrived LGBTQIA+ asylum seeking immigrants in Philadelphia was just a dream -  and a big one at that! But through the trust and belief of so many loving and supportive individuals, Asylum Pride House became a reality that continues to have lasting impacts on a historically underserved community. 

Since opening our transitional housing program in September of 2023, we've housed 15 LGBTQIA+ asylum seeking immigrants and supported almost 30 individuals through our case management program. So far we've welcomed folks from 18 countries across the world speaking Spanish, French, English, Arabic, Russian, Uzbek, Fulani, and Portuguese. 

Watching each of our residents live as their most authentic selves and become part of their new communities is the best part of this work - what keeps me going every day. And although what's happening in this country towards the LGBTQIA+ and immigrant communities is deeply concerning, it means this work is more important than ever. 

The funds raised through our Welcome Walk - increasing our unrestricted dollars that cover expenses no other grants will! - allow Asylum Pride House to innovate and meet the changing needs of LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers in real time.
