 14. What happens if there's severe weather forcasted for my race?
We implement a three stage plan in the event of inclement weather on race mornings.
‍              Stage 1: Rain: ‍We race in the rain if there is no lightning in the area and none predicted throughout the event.
‍             Stage 2: Lightning: ‍If there is lightning in the area we will delay the race start by 20 minutes. If delays persist this could lead to the elimination of longer distance events such as Olympic distance triathlons and Half Iron                                                        distances. In those cases, those participants would move to shorter distances such as a Sprint distancs.
If the swim portion of a triathlon must be cancelled we will try to create a duathlon event (Run > Bike > Run) if that race does not already have one. If a duathlon event is not possible we will move to a                                                       Bike-Run event.
‍            Stage 3: Event Cancellation:  While we make every effort to hold our events, if it is deemed unsafe to hold the event by HFP Racing and/or park or law enforcement, participants will be notified via email and onsite loud                                       speakers of the event's cancellation.
We understand that you invest a significant amount of your time, money, and effort preparing for a race. If we need to make a difficult decision or are mandated to cancel a race, please know that we share in your                                 disappointment. The last thing we ever want to do is cancel a race and we appreciate your respect and understanding of our policies.
‍       Participant Responsibility for Safety: If the event is still held despite challenging circumstances (e.g., adverse weather, emergency conditions), it is the sole responsibility of each participant to assess their own safety and well-         being before choosing to participate. Participants are encouraged to make their own determination regarding whether they should participate in the race based on the conditions at that time. By registering for the event, you             acknowledge that your participation is at your own risk.
15. What will the water temperature be, and are wetsuits allowed?

Water temperatures at Pleasant Hill Lake vary with weather conditions. Official water temperatures will be measured before racing, and USA Triathlon wetsuit rules will apply.

Below 60.6°F: Wetsuits may be required for safety.

60.6°F–78°F: Wetsuits are permitted, with full awards eligibility.

78.1°F–83.9°F: Wetsuits are permitted, but athletes wearing them are not eligible for competitive awards.
