This year's race donations will go towards the research for Type 1 diabetes.  This is a disease that has impacted many families right here in our community and running group.  Type 1 diabetes is a chronic autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, leading to a lack of insulin and high blood sugar levels. It is typically diagnosed in children and young adults, but can occur at any age. Treatment involves lifelong insulin therapy, along with a healthy diet and regular physical activity. Thanks for your generosity in helping donate towards the research for Type 1 diabetes.
