Run Together, Fight Together: Help Battle Cancer and Support Our Community

Donation Goal: $16,660

Striving to Combat Cancer

Donations given will support the WVU Hospitals East Foundation's Cancer Comfort Fund. The Cancer Comfort Fund provides crucial assistance to local cancer patients of all ages who don’t qualify for other programs. It covers immediate needs such as food supplements, medications, and gas cards for transportation to medical appointments.

Donations will also support the new WVU Cancer and Infusion Center opening at WVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center in 2026 by helping us purchase state-of-the-art treatment chairs with heat and massage features—designed to provide comfort during long treatment sessions. Each chair costs $3,332, and our goal is to secure 5 for the new center.

Event proceeds will also provide resources to advance the new pediatric cancer and infusion treatments at WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center, helping create a more positive and engaging experience for young patients who can now receive specialized care closer to home.

Your gift today directly helps a local community member, with cancer, focus on treatment and recovery, without the added burden of financial worry.

The Bob Baronner Apple Trample 5k is much more than a fun run. To the Bank of Charles Town (BCT), Apple Trample 5k Elite Sponsor, it’s a way to commemorate former BCT President and CEO and community member at large, Bob Baronner.  Bob lost his battle with cancer in early 2017, but his memory and legacy continues through the annual Apple Trample 5k event as colleagues, friends and family participate to raise awareness and support for our community’s health and well-being and for those who are in the midst of their own battle with cancer.
