What is Mowat-Wilson Syndrome?

Mowat-Wilson syndrome is a genetic condition that affects many parts of the body. Major signs of this disorder frequently include distinctive facial features, intellectual disability, delayed development, an intestinal disorder called Hirschsprung disease, and other birth defects.

MWS is a rare condition and because of this, it means the amount of funding, research, support and knowledge is very minimal. Many of the MWS caretakers have to educate doctors and medical professionals because most have not seen an MWS patient before.

What Is Mini With A Meaning?

Mini with a Meaning is a program that gives participants the opportunity to make their OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon or Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K experience even more meaningful by raising awareness and funds in support of a non-profit organization. Mini with a Meaning has partnered with the MWS Foundation by nominating a team captain to put together a team and fundraise for the MWS Foundation. Not only will each team member fundraise, they will also participate in either the 5k or Mini-Marathon!

What Can I Do To Help?

Become A Team Member

1. Click the "Become A Team Member" tab in the drop down in the top left corner (mobile) or header on the right (computer)

2. Write who you are, why you're doing this race, and upload a photo

3. Decide how much you want to fundraise

4. Sign up for either race (I will send you a discounted registration link)

5. Share the fundraiser! 

6. Show up on race day and meet as a team and be ready to run (or walk) for a really good cause!
