Volunteer Trip to: Tecate Horse Rescue

Support Tecate Horse Rescue in their efforts to save, rehabilitate, and find forever homes for horses, mules, and ponies who have experienced maltreatment or were at-risk of euthanization. This rescue is located in East County about 1hr from Naval Base Coronado and serves as a refuge for horses in need.

MWR Liberty is looking for 10 passionate volunteers to complete 3 hours of volunteer service to provide daily care to horses, clean and maintain corrals, hay feeders, and water buckets; and perform all other tasks as assigned. 

Volunteer Requirements:

Attire: Closed-toe shoes, jeans and light layers; clothing that can get dirty!

Bring: It's recommended to bring a hat and gloves in addition to a water bottle that can be refilled at their tested and county-certified well.

Physical Requirements: Ability to rake and lift 5-8lbs, push a wheelbarrow, lean over and scrub a water trough, and move a 4-6lb water hose. Volunteers must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Waiver: All volunteers will be required to sign a Tecate Horse Rescue waiver when they arrive. 

Transportation:

This is an MWR Liberty Sponsored volunteer trip. MWR transportation is a requirement with your registration. Please select your preferred pick-up location during registration.

Q-Zone, NAB - pickup at 7 am

VADM Martin Liberty, NASNI - pickup at 7:30 am

7 am - Q-Zone Pickup

7:30 am - VADM Martin Pickup and departure to ranch

8:30 am - estimated arrival to Tecate Horse Rescue

9am - 12pm - volunteer shift

12:15 pm - estimated departure from Tecate Horse Resue

12:45 pm - 1hr lunch stop at Rancho San Diego Towne Center *bring money for food 

1:45 pm - departure from Rancho San Diego back to Coronado

2:15 pm - estimated arrival to NASNI

2:30 pm - estimated arrival to NAB
