The Alliance's Riverside Ramble
Place
Salida, CO US 81201
Description
The Alliance and 7000ft Running Company present The Riverside Ramble! The Riverside Ramble is an accessible fun run that celebrates survivors in the outdoor community and emphasizes the necessity for safety in all spaces. Sexual violence is prevalent in outdoor recreation and the outdoor industry. According to a 2018 survey by Outside Magazine, 70% of the 4,193 respondents had experienced harassment in the outdoors, with the most common forms being catcalling and being followed on foot, bike, or by car. We believe that outdoor activities should not be compromised by power and control dynamics.
Check in for The Ramble will begin at 10 am at The Office Bar. From there participants will walk the short distance to the race start at the end of the Monarch Spur Trail, across the street from the SteamPlant. The race will start at 11 am. Participants can choose to run a 2-mile route around Sands Lake or a 5-mile route around Frantz Lake. You can run or walk—whatever suits you best! The finish line will be at the same place as the start. The event will be followed by an after party back at The Office Bar. We'll have drinks and live music by Salida Sax Guy plus The Divided Pie will be on hand with their delicious pizzas for sale, with a percentage of sales going back to The Alliance.
Each participant will receive a bucket drawing ticket and will have the opportunity to win one of three free pairs of Topo Athletic shoes! Additional bucket drawing tickets will be available for purchase.
All proceeds will benefit The Alliance.
Let’s raise one for the hikers, runners, bikers, raft guides, climbers, skiers, tree huggers, and bird watchers. With your support, we can make our community a safe place for all.
