Description
Kick off the Penguins’ 60th Anniversary season by joining the 2026 Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk presented by Highmark on Sunday, October 4 at PPG Paints Arena.
Choose how you participate: run the in-person 6.6K, enjoy the 3.3K Family Walk, or take part from anywhere with the Virtual 6.6K. All proceeds support cancer research and patient care through the Mario Lemieux Foundation, as well as youth initiatives of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.
In celebration of the team’s debut season 60 years ago, this year’s event brings back the iconic dark and light blue color scheme. The course begins at PPG Paints Arena and takes you across two bridges and through the Armstrong Tunnel before finishing back at the Arena— where you’ll be welcomed by Mario Lemieux and Penguins alumni. Race Start Time:
The 6.6K will start promptly at 8:00 AM on Fifth Avenue outside the EQT Gate at PPG Paints Arena; 3.3K walkers will line up behind runners and follow accordingly.
6.6K Raffle:
All participants in the 6.6K Run, 3.3K Walk and 6.6K Virtual Event are eligible for raffle prizes and will automatically be entered to win. Winning bib numbers will be selected at random. Prizes will be mailed to winners.
Age Group Prizes:
Age category awards for male and female competitors will be based on chip time in the following categories: 9 & Under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & Over. Cash prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Overall winners are not eligible for age category awards. Prizes will be mailed to winners. Virtual participants are not eligible for age group prizes. Age group awards will be mailed to winners. Virtual participants are not eligible for age category awards.
Race Transfers:
Participants can transfer between events, including between in-person and virtual, for a fee of $10.00 (plus the difference in event cost) through Saturday, October 3. If you registered for an in-person event and do not attend, we will not mail your race packet!
Pre-Race Packet Pickup Time/Location:
Pre-Race Packet Pickup information will be released later this summer.
Participants are able to pick up packets for friends and family.
Medals are not included with in-person race packets. Medals are received at the finish line!

Raffle ticket - participants are entered to win great Penguins prizes and signed memorabilia in the Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Raffle. Winners will be selected virtually, and prizes will be mailed after the event.

Special Penguins Ticket Offer for 6.6K Participants! This offer is good for exclusive ticket discounts to two games during the 2026-27 season: October 5 vs the Winnipeg Jets and November 3 vs the Vegas Golden Knights. The ticket link and additional information will be provided to registrants soon!
Run the 6.6K Virtually Through October 4:
Can’t make it to Pittsburgh on October 4? Join the Virtual 6.6K and register to run your Virtual 6.6K anytime between your registration date and October 4.
Please make sure to enter your virtual race time by October 4 by following the instructions in your confirmation email. You are able to enter your time manually. You do not need to upload an image of your time! You must submit your time in order to receive the race shirt and medal. Virtual Race packets will be mailed the week of October 12. Shirt, medal and any earned fundraising prizes will be mailed together.

Become A Fundraiser
Would you like to raise additional funds for the Mario Lemieux Foundation and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation? Become a 6.6K Fundraiser and receive unique 6.6K and Penguins prizes! To become a fundraiser, register for the race and select "Become A Fundraiser" during the registration process.
Fundraisers who raise a minimum of $166 will receive a custom 6.6K Bib Holder created specifically for Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K fundraisers. There is no better way to display your 6.6K bib history than the official 6.6K Bib Holder!
Fundraisers who raise additional funds will be eligible for the following prizes (in addition to the Bib Holder listed above):
Raise $500 to receive: Custom Pittsburgh Penguins Vintage Pennant autographed by Mario Lemieux!
Raise $1,500 to receive: Autographed Pittsburgh Penguins Jersey from one of the following Penguins: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, Erik Karlsson, Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell, or Mario Lemieux (jerseys are randomly selected.)
The Top 3 Overall Fundraisers, based on fundraising totals on RunSignUp at 8:00 AM EST on Sunday, October 4, will each receive two club level tickets to an agreed upon Pittsburgh Penguins home game during the 2026-27 NHL season.
Pet Walk presented by Clearview Federal Credit Union
Register your four-legged friend for the Pet Walk presented by Clearview Federal Credit Union as part of the 3.3K in-person and 6.6K Virtual events! Select the Pet Walk add-on option during the registration process to register your pet, and your pet will receive a 6.6K Pet Finisher Bandana. Registered pets will receive a Pet Finisher Bandana with your race packet. Bandanas are not distributed at the finish line. Dogs are permitted to walk in the in-person 3.3K Walk or the Virtual 6.6K. Dogs are not permitted to participate in the in-person 6.6K, but you can still order a 6.6K Pet Finisher Bandana for your dog! Visit the FAQs for more information.
