Description

Welcome to the Heart of America Mulitisport Merit Badge Clinic, where scouts will learn everything they’ll need to prepare them to earn the Multisport Merit Badge!  

Clinic Pre-Requisites:

·         It is recommended that Scouts earn Swimming, Cycling, Athletics, and/or Personal Fitness Merit Badges prior to registering

·         If choosing a swimming discipline, Scouts must be a strong swimmer, have successfully completed the BSA swim test and have earned Swimming Merit Badge

·         Scouts must be a registered member of Scouting America and at least 14 years of age

USA Triathlon Registration

Prior to registering for the clinic, a parent must create a complimentary USA Triathlon account for their child. If your child already has an active USAT membership, they will use this rather than registering for a new membership.

In this 3-hour clinic scouts will learn about all of the key aspects of Multipsort and at the end be able to run their race of their choice.  

 

Run by USAT Level I Coach and USAT Race Director Katy Renner; and USAT Level I Coach, 6-time Ironman World Championship Qualifier and 4-time Ultracycling World Record holder Josh Wolf, scouts will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the Midwest. 

 

This Multipsort Clinic will focus on: 

 

- Basic knowledge such as hazards that you might encounter, distances of Triathlon, equipment needs; swim, bike and run safety, etc.  
- How to warm up for each discipline 
- Rules of the road for biking and running 
- Going over training programs and ways to improve at Multisport 
- Learning how to set up transition 
- A race simulation where scouts can choose from a Duathlon, Triathlon, Aquabike, or Aquathlon with the distances that meet the badge requirements 
- Ways scouts can continue to participate in Multisport 
- Ways you can volunteer at a local race as a group 
- Swim, bike and running form and practice time for each sport

Helmet 
Bike/Run shoes 
Goggles 
(We will provide a swim cap)
Sunscreen 
Water bottle 
A snack
