Description
The Capital City River Run makes a real impact within the community, benefiting Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide children and families access to science exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory programming.
Annual races include a Half Marathon, 5K Walk/Run, and the Sohn’s Kid’s Race. All half marathon and 5K race participants receive a crew neck sweatshirt (your choice of two colors) and finishers medal. The race will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and you can check your results during the race and on the web at Playmakers.com.
The kids races will take place on Saturday, September 20 at 11AM at Impression 5 Science Center. The one mile race will take place on the Lansing River Trail. All participants will be invited to spend the day at the Science Museum and enjoy a pizza party after the event. Participants of the event will get a Stainless Steel Water Bottle and a finishers medal.
The half marathon, and 5K races will start on Michigan Ave in front of the Lansing Center, utilizing Michigan Ave and the Lansing River Trail and will end in front of Rotary Park in downtown Lansing. Both races will start at 8AM on Sunday, September 21.
Packet Pick Up
Packet pick up will take place on Saturday, September 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing.
Race day packet pick up will take place at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

2025 Crew Neck Sweatshirt
You will be asked to pick from Ivory or Navy upon registering for the half marathon or 5K. A no-shirt option with a discount of $12 is also available.
Greater Lansing Area Race Series
We are excited to be part of the Greater Lansing Area Race Series! This year GLARS features 10 races from the Greater Lansing Area, starting in March and ending in late September. There is no need to register for the Race Series; just participate in the events listed on their website and earn points towards some sweet awards! Parking will be available at Impression 5 Science Center via City Market Drive off Cedar St. Michigan Ave will be closed at 5AM and you will not have access from Museum Dr.
City Market Drive will be closed at 8AM for the start of the races.

Q. How many aid stations are on the half marathon course?
A. Seven locations:
1. Michigan Ave -near People's Kitchen 2.1 miles
2. Aurelius and the river trail, roadside park 4 miles
3. Wabash St and the River Trail 6 miles
4. McGuire Park 7.5 miles
5. Hawk Island, near beach house, 8.8 miles
6. Potter Park Zoo 11.1 miles
7. Elm Street Park and the river trail - 12 miles
Q. What should we anticipate at each aid station?
A. Each aid station will have water, Gatorade and porta johns
Q. Are running strollers allowed?
A. Yes
Q. Are dogs allowed?
A. No (although we all love dogs)
Q. Can someone pick up my packet for me?
A. Yes
Q. Will there be a bag drop?
A. Yes, Sohn Linen provides bag drop. They will be located on the corner of Michigan Ave and Cedar St prior to the race. They will be in Rotary Park at the finish. Look for the big purple truck! Please do not leave items inside the Lansing Center, you will not be able to retrieve them after the race.
