Pedal the Cause

This year, I’ll be riding the 100-mile Pedal the Cause race (double what I did last year and roughly the distance from Wellesley to Welfleet!) to raise funds for research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. For the last 15 years, Pedal the Cause has crowdsourced over $51 million for more than 255 independent cancer research projects, with 100% of donations going directly to support these lifesaving efforts.

This year has been especially meaningful as I’ve been helping restart the WashU cycling club, the Krebs Cyclers, with classmates who are pulling together a great group of medical students to ride. I’ve also been volunteering with Achilles International, serving as a tandem bike captain so that athletes with visual and intellectual impairments can enjoy the thrill of cycling. Riding in Pedal the Cause feels especially impactful, knowing the research we support could make a difference for some of the people I ride with every week.
