My name is Joe Merritt and I am paddling 220 miles to raise funds for Semper Fi & Americas Fund, because they have supported my family and me for many years. As I live a life of gratitude after service, it is my honor to take on this operation while raising funds for this amazing organization. Without their efforts and support we would have lost most everything. Their entire team is amazing, and I can say I've been the beneficiary of their hard work, and dedication to America's veterans, specifically post 9/11 OIF/OEF combat wounded.
During this operation I will take advantage of the beautiful lakes of Upstate SC, Western NC; and Northern Georgia to complete my mission. I am happy to paddle an extra miles per $100 over my fundraising goal.
Donors are encouraged to grab a board and come paddle along, as I traverse these scenic lakes throughout the year. Every dollar counts, every dollar helps.

About SEMPER FI & AMERICA’S FUND: Semper Fi & America’s Fund (The Fund) provides unique and innovative programs, which include immediate financial assistance, case management, connection, and lifetime support, to our nation's critically wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Fund was created by a group of military spouses who saw the need for bedside support for wounded and injured service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and immediately offered assistance to their families. Today, those same military spouses lead an extended patriotic staff of veterans, community members, and volunteers who build relationships that last a lifetime — a unique model of care among veteran service organizations.
