Extra Table is taking football to the food pantries with a fall giving campaign, the TACKLE HUNGER GIVING CHALLENGE. Extra Table has been challenged to revise our fundraising efforts from in person events to online, virtual events. In order to meet this fundraising challenge brought on by Covid 19, Extra Table is doing our first ever fall giving campaign.
Extra Table is the partnership launched in 2009 by well-known restaurateur Robert St. John making a difference in the lives of Mississippians by fundraising in order to stock food pantries and soup kitchens across the state with wholesome nutritious food. Fundraising looks a little different this year than previous years.
The TACKLE HUNGER GIVING CHALLENGE is a football themed fundraiser aimed at capitalizing on the competitive nature of fall football and the giving nature of Mississippians. Throughout the 2020 football season, Extra Table will be promoting and leveraging all things football in order to fundraise for our food pantry partners while unifying fans for one cause –
TACKLING HUNGER.

Extra Table is asking YOU to donate through the TACKLE HUNGER GIVING CHALLENGE. 100% of all donations made to the TACKLE HUNGER GIVING CHALLENGE will purchase healthy foods for Extra Table’s partnering food pantries and soup kitchens. Attached is a list of food pantries that Extra Table supports.
MAKE YOUR DONATION COUNT TWICE
Not only will your donation feed our hungry neighbors in Mississippi, but it can count in our friendly competition between Ole Miss fans and Mississippi State fans. When donating, choose a team, #TEAMOleMiss or #TEAMState, for your donation to be included in the total that each school’s fan base raises. Extra Table will keep track of all donations earmarked for the friendly competition and announce the winning team at the end of the TACKLE HUNGER GIVING CHALLENGE by presenting the Tackle Hunger trophy to the winning team’s school.

If you are not an Ole Miss or State fan, your donations can count toward YOUR favorite football team. As Mississippians, we all enjoy a good game of football whether it be at the pee wee or high school field or at the community college or university setting and we want to recognize those teams. No matter the colors you wear or the team you choose, make your donation to feed people in honor of your favorite football team. Extra Table will also keep track of these donations and announce an overall winner at the end of the TACKLE HUNGER GIVING CHALLENGE.
