RAGBRAI for Sportable

Thu June 29 - Mon July 31 Richmond, VA 23220 US

Description

Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to announce its Chief Executive Officer, Hunter Leemon, will participate in RAGBRAI, The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, July 22-29, 2023. Through his 500-mile ride, Hunter's goal is to raise funds to benefit Sportable’s mission to make sports accessible and inclusive in RVA.

Community members are encouraged to join Leemon remotely by logging miles throughout the month of July by running, walking, pushing, or cycling, while raising funds through a multi-tiered, peer-to-peer fundraiser.

We are thrilled to share that our community's overwhelming support has allowed us to successfully meet and exceed a $10,000 matching challenge from a generous anonymous donor - raising over $20,000 so far! If we can reach a new goal of $30,000, it will unlock an additional $5,000 pledged by one of Hunter’s Randolph-Macon College alum!

“I am excited to combine two of my passions – cycling and Sportable – by participating in RAGBRAI,” commented Leemon. “Last summer, I had the chance to ride 52 miles for the final leg of Dan Schmitt’s cross-country Kon-Tiki Challenge and it was one of the best experiences of my life.”

“I felt like I needed a challenge this year and was inspired to push myself to complete the 500-mile ride across Iowa while raising funds for Sportable’s mission,” Leemon added. “I am looking forward to this life-changing experience and I encourage Sportable members and supporters to join me virtually by logging miles, making a donation, or cheering me on.”

We invite each and every one of you to be a part of this incredible journey! Set your own mile goal, whether it's one mile or five hundred, and join us in making a difference. By participating in our peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, you not only support Hunter's monumental ride but also contribute directly to Sportable's mission of inclusivity and accessibility in RVA. Your efforts matter, and together, we can create a lasting impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities through the power of sports. Join us, log your miles, make a donation, and let's inspire each other as we strive to reach new heights. Thank you for being a champion for change and helping us make dreams come true, one mile at a time.
