MEET SAVI
Savi Ella Redman was a force of nature – bright, curious, courageous, and funny. Savi had a larger-than-life personality. She was the beloved youngest daughter of Shannon Feaster and Ken Redman, a U.S. Army veteran.
Savi had a powerful singing voice and she enjoyed trying to keep up with her big sister's choreographed dance moves. She was always on the go and she wanted to experience new adventures. She planned trips to New York, Florida, and the Carolinas to spend fun time with extended family.
Savi often told jokes and riddles, and she challenged all comers to board game battles. She created virtual worlds for animals and recruited family and friends to join her. She also wanted to learn many sports. To the delight of her grandfather "Paw Paw" baseball became her favorite. She played mini-chef to her grandmother “Burr” and she learned to cook her favorite foods, including Burr’s famous sweet potato pie.
Savi was a proud 3rd grader at St. John's Episcopal School in Olney, MD. She had big dreams for her future. Her passion for animals and her desire to be a world-class veterinarian were well known. Recently, she developed a great fondness for horses and she learned everything that she could about them from her new friends at Encore Stables. One of Savi’s goals was to create Savi’s Animals All-in-One, a one-stop animal rescue, rehabilitation, grooming, and boarding center where no animal would be turned away. She had the biggest heart of all.
Shortly after her 7th birthday, Savi was diagnosed with a rare type of pediatric cancer called neuroblastoma. Thanks to her primary care physician, Dr. Bonita Jude at Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center, and the providers at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Savi was quickly enrolled in a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Later, she was treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
In 2023, Savi became a "wish kid" through Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. Her goal was to have an epic "Infinity 8" birthday party at American Dream in New Jersey. Her wish was granted and she had the time of her life with family and friends!
Throughout her courageous fight, Savi found joy in every single day. After 21 months of countless scans, transfusions, chemotherapy treatments, immunotherapy, proton and photon radiation, two major surgeries, and a stem cell transplant, she departed this earthly life on April 19, 2024.
Savi was the light of our lives and she inspired us to be better by leaning on her faith even during the most challenging times. She had a positive, kind, and grateful spirit. To know her was to be touched by her. Through Savi's Army, we will carry on Savi's legacy by helping kids with critical illnesses lead joyful and impactful lives.
